Being a Simpsons fan, I have enjoyed OFF icons made by other folks out there. However, since none of the icon collections featured a wide variety of Springfield characters, it is my pleasure to bring to the world the most complete collection of Simpson icons yet to be found. I hope you enjoy my icons. It was a "labor" of true fandom. (Is making Simpson icons really work?)
The Cost...
I think icons should be for the enjoyment of all, so these icons are FREE. Instead of asking for money (which I couldn't do anyway, as they are copyrighted characters), I would ask one thing--if you like these icons, please send me a postcard or an e-mail message and let me know what you think. I thrive on feedback! (And besides, the more e-mail I get, the faster I'll produce more icons!)

I want to thank Fox for their wonderful show! And I want to thank the folks out there who sent me e-mail and provided me with lots of incentive (and suggestions) to keep iconing. I would also like to thank the people who sent me pictures, which promptly got turned into more icons.
Credits...
I want to thank Dave Schutz. His "Colossal Icons" collection features some of the best animation icons I've seen, and they inspired me to try iconing. I also want to thank him for the use of his small "bogus" application. When you turn on balloon help (in System 7) and put your cursor over an icon, the text in the balloon displays a funny quote from the Simpsons show for that character. (The application doesn't really work; it's just there to provide funny balloon help). Unfortunately, this feature is not available in this version of "The Simpsons." The reason for excluding this feature, is to decrease the file size to allow for faster download times. However, if you are interested in the quotes, you can still download the original volumes from America Online.
I also want to thank Kevin, without whose help I could not have made the third volume. He spent many an hour video capturing images from his Simpson tapes for me to work from. I owe him greatly for his generosity.
Lastly, I would like to thank Mark Archuleta for all the work he's put into re-organizing this Read Me and for compiling the 3 volumes of Simpsons icons into one collection.
How to Use These Icons...
1. You really need system 7.
2. Do a "Get Info" (File menu) on the original icon file.
3. Click on the icon in the window; choose "Copy" (Edit menu).
4. Close the window, then "Get Info" on destination file/disk.
5. Click on the icon, choose "Paste" (Edit menu).
6. Exclaim in wonderment at the artistry and subtlety of the icon.
7. Enthusiastically send e-mail or postcard comments to creator.

Simpsons Gunshy...
An example of someone's creativity: If you haven't gotten it yet, get the Simpsons Gunshy game. A friend (thanks so much, Mig!) used my icons as tiles in this free public domain game, and the result is great fun for Simpson fans. Look for this game on AOL, and the following addresses:

I'm working on a more challenging version of the Simpsons gunshy game. It will feature icons from all 3 volumes, and will have 4 different icons matching each other. For example, the 4 Flanders family members will match each other, the 4 B Sharps will match, and so on. I'll call this game "Tough Simpsons Gunshy" when I upload it.

History...
This History is not necessarily applicable to this distribution of ╥The Simpsons╙ because the three volumes (including "corrections") have been compiled into one collection. However, I have included it for your reading enjoyment.

I do not have the full collection here; some secondary characters are missing, which I intend to create in a second Simpsons collection, before the end of the year.
Ñ Volume 2, November 1993
Unbelievably, the collection still is not complete; I am at this moment making still more guest stars and secondary characters. It is a testimony to the Simpsons show that so many characters have graced it in the 4+ years it's existed. I will try to get to as many of them as I can in my third volume of Simpsons icons. I will concentrate mostly on the suggestions that people have sent me. So it's to your advantage to e-mail me with your ideas for icons.

And yet another collection of icons hits the networks. Is there an end to this? Hopefully not, if the Simpsons show never ends. A fourth volume is in the works. I'm still taking suggestions, so keep 'em coming, folks!
